Oriental, North Carolina, April 1, 2010 — Nautical Wheelers, a new shop that will provide unique, quality products at a value while also servicing the needs the boating community and residents of Oriental, will hold its grand opening on April 1, 2010. Located at 502 Hodges St., Nautical Wheelers is owned by Camilla and Bill Wheeler.
“We love the sailing community and the small town atmosphere of Oriental and are extremely proud to start a small business in the town we call home,” said owner Camilla Wheeler. “Nautical Wheelers will fill a void in the current product offerings available in Oriental and will complement other stores in the area.”.
The main focus of the shop will be apparel, home furnishings and gifts. The store will contain a unique blend of North Carolina products, fair trade items, products made from recycled materials, gourmet items and eco friendly products. “We are very fortunate to have the brands of Columbia, Merrell, Ten Thousand Villages, Tilley and Ultimate Hat as our keystone vendors” said co-owner Bill Wheeler.
The normal hours for Nautical Wheelers will be 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Sunday. Hours will be extended for holidays and special events.
Camilla and Bill Wheeler are originally from Winston-Salem and are both graduates of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. They first gained their passion for sailing and the town of Oriental back in 1994. They spent two years cruising the east coast from 1996 to 1998 and knew they would return to Oriental someday. Three years ago they returned and bought a home enjoying Oriental on weekends, summers and holidays. Their children (Emma, Kara and Will) have enjoyed the sailing camp and drama camp in Oriental over the three years.
